Moderation

Every moderator and broadcaster tool in StreamNook, from per-message actions to mass actions.

If you are a moderator or the broadcaster in a channel, StreamNook gives you a full moderation toolkit: per-message actions, keyboard moderation, drag-to-moderate, room controls, a live mod log, and mass actions. All actions are permission-gated by Twitch, so they only work where you actually hold the role.

There are several ways to do most actions (a button, a key, a drag, or a slash command), so you can use whichever fits your flow.

Per-message actions

Hover a message to reveal its action dock.

ActionHowNotes
CopyCopy iconAvailable to everyone, not just mods.
Pin / UnpinPin iconPin a message to the top of chat. Click again to unpin.
DeleteTrash iconRemoves the single message.
TimeoutClock iconQuick timeout with a duration menu (1s purge, 10m, 1h, 24h).
BanX iconPermanent until unbanned.

Keyboard moderation

Press J to start, then move a focus highlight through messages and act without the mouse. This is the fastest way to moderate a busy chat.

Timeout: 1s purge / 10m / 1h1 / 2 / 3

All of these are rebindable in Settings, Keybindings.

Drag to moderate

Instead of buttons, you can drag a message onto an action. Grab a message and drop it on a target:

  • Delete, Ban, and Timeout targets for punitive actions.
  • Unban / Untimeout appears when the user is already banned or timed out.
  • Pin, Profile, and Whisper targets for non-punitive actions (Profile and Whisper work for everyone).

The timeout target is continuous: the further you drag, the longer the timeout, snapped to clean values up to a maximum of 14 days, with the duration shown live as you drag.

Choose the layout in Settings, Moderation, Action Style:

  • Buttons: the classic hover dock (text stays selectable).
  • Drag: drag messages onto action targets (beside chat or above chat).
  • Both: enable both methods.

The moderator menu

Click the shield icon in the chat toolbar to open room controls.

Subscriber-only modeOn / off

The same menu has shortcuts to show the mod log, manage the channel's 7TV emotes, and open the full moderation settings.

Mod log

The mod log is a live feed of moderation activity for every channel you have open. Turn it on from the moderator menu or Settings, Moderation.

  • Each entry shows the action, duration, the moderator and target, a message snippet, and a timestamp.
  • Actions are color-coded by category (bans, timeouts, deletions, warnings, reversals, roles, chat modes).
  • With two or more channels open it can split into one column per channel, or stay a combined list.
  • History is saved per channel and restored when you reopen it.

Customize the highlight style (box, bar, or dot) and the per-category colors in Settings, Moderation.

Mass actions

Two commands handle spam waves and raids in bulk:

  • /nuke <pattern> <action> <past[:future]> acts on every message matching a phrase or /regex/. The action is delete, ban, or a timeout duration. past is how far back to scan; the optional future keeps applying the action to new matches for that long.
  • /undo reverses the most recent /nuke on the channel. Timeouts and bans are reversed; deletions cannot be recovered.
/nuke spam ban 5m:1m

Bans everyone who said "spam" in the last 5 minutes, then keeps banning new matches for 1 minute.

How moderated messages look

When a message is removed, it shows struck through by default. You can change this in Settings, Moderation:

  • Hide the strikethrough and remove moderated messages entirely.
  • Announce mod actions inline as a system row.

Settings

Settings, Moderation holds the action style, drag layout, pin behavior, mod log visibility and styling, category colors, and the message-appearance options. See the Settings reference.

Every moderation command

All moderator and broadcaster slash commands (bans, timeouts, roles, raids, shield mode, announcements, and more) are listed on the Chat commands page.
