Emotes

7TV, BTTV, FFZ, and Twitch emotes, the emote picker, favorites, and caching.

StreamNook shows emotes from Twitch and the three major third-party providers, with no setup. Animated emotes play smoothly without affecting the stream.

Supported providers

ProviderWhat it covers
TwitchGlobal, subscriber, bits, and special-event emotes.
7TVCommunity emote sets, including animated and zero-width emotes.
BTTVBetterTTV global and channel emotes.
FFZFrankerFaceZ global and channel emotes.

All four are matched in chat automatically. When a name matches more than one provider, StreamNook picks one consistently so the same word always shows the same emote.

Using emotes

  • Type the name and it renders inline as you send.
  • Hover an emote in chat to see a larger preview with its name and provider. Set the preview size in Settings, Chat.
  • Emote picker: open it from the chat input to browse and search. Tabs separate Twitch, 7TV, BTTV, FFZ, your favorites, and emote sets.
  • Autocomplete: start typing an emote name and press Tab to cycle through matches.

Favorites and emote sets

  • Star any emote in the picker to add it to your Favorites tab for quick access.
  • Browse curated and channel emote sets from the picker or Settings, Emote Sets.

Twitch subscriber and bits emotes

  • Subscriber emotes show in the picker and are usable in channels you subscribe to.
  • Bits emotes (cheermotes) appear when you cheer, for example Cheer100, colored by the bits tier.

Sizing and spacing

Fine-tune how emotes look in chat in Settings, Chat, Chat Design:

  • Emote scale to make emotes larger or smaller.
  • Emote margin for spacing around them.
  • Hover preview size for the popup when you mouse over an emote.

Caching

StreamNook caches emotes and badges to disk so they load instantly and never stutter the video. Caching runs politely in the background and speeds up while the emote picker is open.

Manage the cache in Settings, Cache:

  • Set how long cached items are kept.
  • View cache info or open the cache folder.
  • Clear cache to free disk space. Items re-download as needed.

Note

Chat and emotes never compete with your stream for bandwidth. The video always gets priority, and off-screen messages use almost no memory.
